Corten steel planters
Flower boxes made of Corten steel are alloy steel that acquires corrosion-resistant properties through the addition of copper, chromium and nickel. This alloy, a dense barrier layer of adhesive sulfates and phosphates, protects the steel so that no further corrosion occurs. Exposed to the weather, this material begins to unfold a life of its own. The colors change and create new images. This ensures that the planters get the rust color.
The steel gets a rust-shaped oxidation layer. It provides protection against further rusting. The final color depends on the temperature, humidity and the precise position of the product (vertical or horizontal). The formation of the final barrier layer takes – depending on the climate – approximately 1 year.
A Corten steel flower box is very strong and is therefore ideal for the garden, landscape and interior. It is also known as Cor-Ten or Corten.
